National Snow and Ice Data Center

I re-designed the NSIDC home page to make information easier to find, and also more visually appealing. This included IA work, Visual Design, and Front-End coding.
I created the layout and visual design for a new All About Frozen Ground web site. I worked with Writing staff and educators to deliver a user-friendly resource for Frozen Ground.
Polaris was an ambitious project to make all NSIDC data not only searchable, but to provide on-the-fly analysis and imagery. I did Usability Testing, Interaction Design, and Visual Design.
I created a concept for a mobile version of the Searchlight data search application. It included the ability to narrow your search to specific data sets, and make geographic selections on a map.
MIST is a Search application for MODIS data sets from NASA. I did Usability Testing, Interaction Design, Visual Design, and HTML/CSS coding.

At this public research institute with a very large and popular web site, my role was to lead improvements to User Experience, Information Architecture, and Content Strategy.

NSIDC are experts in satellite data about snow and ice, and a leader in the field of snow and ice related scientific research. Their data and content about the melting Arctic sea ice is eagerly sought after by the press, academics, and educators.

I worked with teams of Category Experts, Writers, Scientists, and Engineers, to design their web site, sub-sites, and applications. I delivered many improvements based on User-Centered Design principles and practices, including Prototyping and Usability Testing.
